The best cross country team in Louisiana history scored a perfect 15 points on Monday at the state championships in Natchitoches.

One year after scoring a miniscule 22 points, the Bluejays of Jesuit in New Orleans swept the top five spots on the 3-mile state meet course and put all seven in the top nine of the state meet.

Senior Jack Des Roches ran to the Division 1 victory in 14:46 and sophomore teammate Brady Mullen was next in 14:59.2. Senior Robert Buisson was third in 15:03, senior Patrick Dowd was fourth in 15:10.7 and junior Michael Vocke, the defending individual state champion, was fifth in 15:11.9.

Vocke ran 15 seconds faster than his winning time in 2021.

The team average of 15:03 was a state meet record. Runner-up Brother Martin scored 63 points.

The St. Joseph's Academy girls won their seventh straight state championship by scoring 40 points and averaging 18:46 on its scoring five to hold off Ruston (77).

Hannah Vaughn ran 18:05.6 for the win and her St. Joseph's teammate, Michelle Daigle, was second in 18:14..6.

Vanderbilt Catholic swept the Division 2 individual titles -- the boys race won by Avery Morgan in 16:08.9 and the girls by Brynn Kelso in 18:34.1. Vanderbilt Catholic's girls also celebrated a state title after edging Academy of Sacred Heart on a tiebreaker after both teams scored 45 points.
